Curated by OLIVIA POLONI

Cut that shark open features 3 Melbourne based artists exploring the medium of collage. Marc Freeman mixes painted surfaces and collage forms to allow the viewer an organic scape of shapes with whispers of figuration. Nathan Gray reconfigures found and constructed objects to create 3 dimensional collages, offering a magically dazed new space. Ruth Fleishman recreates multi-layered terrains reflecting tangled lands and a confused sense of place.

For over 100 years collage has been used to tie together found and constructed images to emphasise process and concept. Its materiality and immediacy allows an extant marking of social and political comments and personal confessions. Cut that shark open embraces collage to explore fractured images, mapping of time and locations and hidden desires.
