TIM WOODWARD

ACCIDENTS HAPPEN VS ACCIDENTS DON’T HAPPEN

20 APRIL – 28 MAY 2010

These model sized cars and flowering constructions are built from the found debris of car accidents in and around MAILBOX 141 and the Melbourne CBD.

Following an ever optimistic, yet misguided belief in the powers of art, Woodward attempts to return pieces of car wreckage back to their original form, and generate something positive out of a negative situation.

Incorporating broken headlights, burnt tire tread, smashed windscreen, glass, gravel and other items of roadside wreckage, these small sculptures become failed attempts to ‘undo tragedy’. At the same time their meticulous crafting imbues the work with good intentions.
